At IMO-MEPC80 conference, The 2023xa0 Ship Greenhouse Gas Reduction Strategy proposes to reduce the total annual greenhouse gas emissions of international shipping by at least 20% by 2030 compared with 2008, and strive to reduce them by 30%; By 2040, it should be reduced by at least 70% and strive for a reduction of 80%. To achieve the above emission reduction targets, the introduction of new fuels/new energy sources will be the fundamental way out. However, new fuels/new energy sources still face some difficulties, such as weak large-scale sustainable supply capacity, lack of filling equipment and high fuel costs.
How to turn pressure into motivation, turn challenges into opportunities, and better solve the problems of safety, economy and convenience of the use of new fuels/new energy, Shanghai Society of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and Informa Markets jointly organized a Webinar on "New Fuels/New Energy Contribute to Low-carbon Maritime".
At this Webinar, Mr. Chris Chatterton, Chief Operating Officer of the Methanol Society, will share the theme of "Methanol as a new marine fuel: challenges and opportunities", and xa0accompanied byauthoritative experts from Maersk Group, CATL Telex Technology Co., Ltd., ABS and other institutions to conduct authoritative analysis on the future developmentxa0 of marine fuel/energy ,together withthe research and application in the marine field.
